#4 Wat Paknam

Located in the Phasi Charoen district, Wat Paknam is home to Bangkok's largest Buddha statue and carries a rich royal history, having been established during the Ayutthaya Kingdom in 1610. The temple's striking white stupa, towering at 80 meters, was completed in 2012. It serves multiple purposes, including housing a museum and exhibits of cultural relics.

One of the temple’s newest highlights is the breathtaking 69-meter-tall golden Buddha statue, completed in June 2021. Made entirely by human craftsmanship, this awe-inspiring statue has quickly become a popular religious site and spiritual destination. It’s also now recognized as the tallest Buddha statue in Bangkok

Wat Paknam isn’t just about its towering Buddha statue—it’s also home to one of the most breathtaking indoor stupas. The entire ceiling of this floor glows in a luminous green hue, resembling a starlit sky, while the stupa itself is a solid crystal tower with intricate, layered designs.

While many visitors explore the temple on foot, a popular alternative is to take a boat ride along the nearby canal. From the river, you can admire the majestic Buddha statue and enjoy a scenic boat tour. There’s a pier right next to Wat Paknam where you can speak directly with boat operators about rates. Most rides last around an hour. Alternatively, you can pre-book a half-day canal tour online for greater convenience.
